Black Belt Tennis is the integration of martial arts theory and practice into the sport of tennis. It takes the student from a lower level of awareness and application and gradiently improves him step by step. BBT is a truly versatile professionally dynamic approach to the game of tennis. It epitomizes the proper balance of intelligence and force. Modern tennis is more powerful than ever before, and I will give you a glimpse into the future of where this game is going.

How do we improve American Tennis?

In order to improve something we must first acknowledge there is something that needs improving; a problem that needs solving. So is there a problem with Elite American Tennis?

As far as rankings go after Andy Roddick, the next Americans on the ATP are John Isner (22) and Sam Querry (25). America has had a long history of TOP tennis; from the 70’s, with Smith, Ashe, Connors and McEnroe, to Agassi and Sampras in the 80’s and 90’s. From my observation this is no longer the case. This isn’t a slight to Andy or any of the current American players, but it appears that something is missing.

Women’s American Tennis is also on a similar “non-existence” trend. After the Williams’ sisters, the next best is Oudin at 36.

So I ask: How do we improve American Tennis?

What's Up With Roger?

I was at the Sony Ericsson tournament and watched world No. 1 Roger Federer play Tomas Berdych. I watched ironically with a friend, a guy who has never played tennis. He asked me "who is going to win?". I replied "Roger; the only person who can beat Roger is Roger".

Roger jumped on Berdych, playing an aggressive style and net rushing. Then he let up. My friend asked me "Why is he hitting those trick shots" (drop shots). Federer even double faulted on set point in the 1st. He eventually lost in 3 sets.

Roger is looking bored out there. He doesn't seem able to sustain intensity sufficiently against sound opponents. The crowd was whispering it is because of fatherhood. I think he needs a fresh outlook.

He looked so very tough and invincible at the beginning against Berdych. It almost looked like he felt uncomfortable rushing net and forcing play even though it was working.
